Hello, my name is Finlay Brunt and I am four years old. I live in Bridgend in South Wales and I attend a mainstream school with all my friends.
I have Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy which means my muscles don’t work properly, I find it difficult to walk, and I fall over a lot.
My Mummy and Daddy need to raise £40,000 to take me to America to have an operation which will help me to walk and run with my friends.
Please can you help?
A Message From Finlay's Parents...
Spastic Diplegia, is a form of cerebral palsy. This means that his muscles do not function properly. Finlay can walk unaided at the moment, but walks on his toes and is constantly falling over. He can't run or jump like other children his age and is now starting to realise that he is different.
We would like to take Finlay to America, where he can have a procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. SDR involves sectioning (cutting) some of the sensory nerves that come from the muscles and enter the spinal cord. Without the procedure, Finlay will likely be wheelchair bound by his teens.
This operation will no doubt be life-changing to Finlay and to our whole family. To enable Finlay to have the operation we will need to raise approximately £40,000. We hope to achieve this through various fundraising events and with the support of our community.
